Fire! - Winter/Spring 2015 Series
February 15, 2015 - Love on Fire, Song of Songs 8:5-7

Sermon Outline
Pastor Don suggests that his relationship with God tends to parallel his relationship with his wife. Is this true for you? Would anyone share an example?

A. Love Kindled. v. 5

a. Kindling: “Bits of dry wood or other easily ignited material for starting a fire.” Related to the word
“kinder-garten”, (a garden of children). Talk about how these two terms seem to be related, coming from the same Middle English root ‘kindle’.

b. Share your experience of “falling in love” with your spouse. (Wow…have fun!) By the way, who/what was your “apple tree” bearing witness to it all?

c. Share your experience of “falling in love” with Jesus. (Yes!..have more fun!!) Yes. Who bore witness to your conversion and early love toward Jesus?

B. Feed the Fire. v. 6

a. Share a time when you failed to “feed” the fire of your relationship.

b. What do you currently do to “feed the fire”?

c. What ways have you found to “feed the fire” of your relationship with God?

C. True Love Never Fails. v. 7

a. What are some Scripture references that come to mind for you when you think of God’s enduring love for you?

b. Cite an example of a married couple who truly demonstrated such love.

Conclusion: Will you consider thanking someone for giving such a fine example of God-like love?
